Collection: Urns

Choosing a pet memorial urn is one of those tasks nobody prepares you for. You're grieving, and suddenly you need opinions about wood finishes and cubic inches. We built this collection to make that gentler. Each of these urns is handcrafted, most in Italy from sustainable wood, and every one is a place your best friend can rest while staying close to you. Take your time. There's no wrong choice on this page.

How to choose an urn

Size first: figure one cubic inch of capacity for every pound your pet weighed, rounded up. A 12 pound cat needs 12 cubic inches; a 70 pound dog needs 70. Every product page lists capacity, and the collection runs from a 7 cubic inch keepsake to a 380 cubic inch chest.

Materials next: sustainably sourced Italian wood with mahogany or velvet interiors, American poplar and black walnut with bronze accents, cast brass, ceramic, and stoneware. If you'd rather the urn not look like an urn, the Vega vase and Parker candle urn hold their ashes inside beautiful, working objects.

That tin or box the crematory sent home is meant to be temporary. Inside, the ashes are already sealed in a plastic bag, and the bag moves to the urn exactly as-is. No opening, no tools, only a minute or two. Or hand the task to your vet or crematory; they'll do it at no charge.

Keepsake urns hold a portion so families can share, and engraving is offered on several urns at checkout. If you need help choosing, email support@lovebaxter.com; a real person reads every message.

Questions, answered

What size urn does my pet need?
One cubic inch for each pound of body weight, and round up. When in doubt, size up.

Can I transfer the ashes myself?
The sealed bag from the crematory fits into the urn without being opened. Most vets and crematories will also do the transfer for you at no charge.

What is a keepsake urn?
An urn sized for a portion of the ashes instead of the whole, usually 25 cubic inches or under, chosen for sharing between family members or keeping some of them near you.

Do you engrave?
On several urns, yes: added at checkout, a name, a date, or a couple of lines. The product page shows the option wherever it's offered.

I need help choosing. Is there a person I can ask?
Email support@lovebaxter.com and you'll hear back from a real person within one business day.

Keep exploring: dog urns, cat urns, wooden pet urns, keepsake and small pet urns, and burial and cremation. For what comes after the goodbye, our aftercare and memorials guide walks through it.
