How the custom plush works
Petsies works from your photos, but not at checkout. You order first, then you get email access to the Petsies Studio, where you share your pet's colors, quirks, and story for the artists to work from. That gap is deliberate, and it helps: nobody should have to write a description of their dog while standing in a checkout flow.
Three versions, and the difference between them is what they do at 2 a.m. The Original is the look-alike plush. The Comfort adds weight and a voice recording module built in, activated with a gentle press. The Memorial adds weight and a realistic heartbeat.
The Thumbies plushes take the other route: a soft dog or cat plush wearing a stainless steel pendant engraved with your pet's actual pawprint or noseprint, in four combinations. Keepsake and comfort in one piece.
Questions, answered
What photos should I send?
Clear daylight shots, their face toward the camera, one animal per frame, and at least one from the side that shows their markings. Phone photos are fine. Blurry action shots and anything with a costume covering their coat are the two that slow a build down.
Is a plush a strange gift for an adult?
It gives your hands somewhere to go, which sounds small until you've sat on a couch that used to have somebody on it. Nobody who has sat on that couch thinks it's strange.
How long does it take?
Each product page lists its own production time. Custom builds run longer than the Thumbies plushes, because the artists are working from your photos.
